ID Released For Man Critically Injured After Being Hit By Van In Westchester

A man who was critically injured after being struck by a van while attempting to cross I-287 in Harrison has been identified.

Diego A. Maidana, 39, of White Plains, was struck around 2:25 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 20, remains in critical but stable condition at Westchester Medical Center, said Trooper Tara McCormick of the New York State Police.

The incident took place when Maidana walked across the eastbound lanes of I-287 near mile marker 7.1 and attempted to cross the westbound lanes, McCormick said.

 While doing so, Maidana was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet E350 van being operated by Brian W. Rodriguez, 36, of Stormville, resulting in life-threatening injuries, she added.

 Rodriguez was not injured in the accident.

State Police were assisted at the scene by the Town of Harrison Police Department, Fire Department, and Empress EMS.
